Google’s Hogging Half Your Traffic: How to Get It Back
Google has evolved from a source of connection for businesses and customers to a business hungry rival.
Google dominates a 90% market share of worldwide search engine traffic, so to increase revenue and satisfy its shareholders, Google is effectively killing the businesses it created. Search results are increasingly listed directly on the search engine results page (SERP). Already, more than 50% of Google searches end on Google pages without a click to the site of source - these have been labelled the “zero-click searches" - and it’s become a pandemic. Without that traffic, websites will die.
The topic is relevant for your attendees because, since Google's BERT algorithm update (Nov 2019), retail businesses have suffered dramatic increases in Zero-Click losses. Google is progressively using more paid real estate for Shopping, Travel, and Job ads making brands lose its rightful website traffic. Businesses both large and small need to be aware of the issue and how to make a stand against it - Andreas will arm them with this knowledge.
